They are whole or cut dried fully bloomed flowers of full-flowered varieties of the species Calendula officinalis L., the flowers are separated from the bed. It contains at least 0.4% flavonoids, calculated as a hyperoside (C21H20O12, Mr 464.4), related to the dried drug.
