Namely Benzyl benzoate is an odorous molecule which is one of the 24 allergens regulated by Europe. It is found in its natural state in Peruvian balsam and Tolu balsam, but also in the essential oils of Jasmine and Ylang-ylang. Note that Benzyl Benzoate is part of the reference treatment in France to treat scabies (an infectious skin disease).

The presence of the substance shall be indicated in the list of ingredients referred to in Article 19 (1) (g) when its concentration is greater:
- to 0,001% in products without rinsing
- to 0,01% in the products to be rinsed
