The restrictions depend on the use of the ingredient in:
a) Oxidative dye for hair colouring
b) Non-oxidative dye for hair colouring
The maximum permitted concentrations are as follows:
a) From 3 September 2017, after mixing under oxidative conditions, the maximum concentration applied to the hair must not exceed 1.0%.
b) From 3 September 2017: 1.5%
For a) and b), from 3 September 2017:
- do not use with nitrosating agents,
- maximum nitrosamine content: 50 μg/kg
- store in nitrite-free containers.
Wording of conditions of use and warnings:
a) From 3 March 2018 must appear on the label:
- The mixing ratio.
- Hair dyes can cause severe allergic reactions.
- Read and follow directions.
- This product is not intended for use on persons under 16 years of age.
- Temporary black henna tattoos may increase the risk of allergy.
Do not color your hair if:
- you have a rash on your face or if your scalp is sensitive, irritated or damaged.
- you have had a reaction to coloring your hair in the past.
- you have had a reaction to a temporary black henna tattoo in the past.
