Namely Citral is a fragrance agent and one of Europe's regulated allergens. It is present in significant quantities in citronella oil, but also in essential oils of verbena, orange, lemon... It is used as an aromatic component in cosmetics for its lemon scent. It is a mixture of the two geometric isomers geranial and neral.

The presence of the substance shall be indicated in the list of ingredients referred to in Article 19 (1) (g) when its concentration is greater:
- to 0,001% in products without rinsing
- to 0,01% in the products to be rinsed
