Namely Myristic alcohol or Tetradecanol is a fatty alcohol used in cosmetics as an emollient (helps water and oil to mix). It is produced from coconut oil, palm kernel or nutmeg. Myristic alcohol is allowed in organic.

The CIR (Cosmetic Ingredient Review) in an annual report published in 2008, concluded the safety of fatty alcohols.
