Bee venom, also known as apitoxin, is a bitter, colorless liquid extracted from bees. It is used in cosmetics as an astringent due to the presence of an enzyme called hyaluronidase, and as a skin protection agent due to its anti-inflammatory properties.
Bee venom has been used for medicinal purposes since antiquity. It is said to have numerous virtues, including being effective against diseases such as multiple sclerosis and cancer. However, several studies have shown that there is no evidence to support the efficacy of the venom against multiple sclerosis, and no study to date has demonstrated any effect in the prevention or treatment of cancer.
