Namely Tetrasodium Etidronate is a close cousin of EDTA. It is used in cosmetics as a chelator and stabilizer. It allows the products to remain stable as much in terms of their color as their consistency. It fights as a chelator against limescale that can limit the action of surfactants. It is like EDTA little biodegradable.

The ingredient must comply with the following concentrations, on the total ingredients:
- 1.5% (expressed as etidronic acid) in hair care products
- 0.2% (expressed as etidronic acid) in soaps
