Namely Sucrose Laurate is a very mild nonionic surfactant. It is a sugar ester (sucrose + lauric acid) often used in mild cleansing formulas (make-up removers, baby wipes). It acts as an emulsifier and thickener in cleansing oils.

Emulsifying : Promotes the formation of intimate mixtures between immiscible liquids by modifying the interfacial tension (water and oil)
