Methylparaben is one of the short-chain parabens. It is used as a preservative (antifungal) in cosmetics. Although long-chain parabens are reputed to be the most dangerous, in 2025 Methylparaben is the subject of a request (from France) for specific classification as an endocrine disruptor at European level (CLH).
