Glycolic acid is a natural organic acid, also called alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA). It is usually made from sugar cane. It is used in mild peels and acid-based exfoliators. It accelerates the loss of dead cells and promotes cell renewal. Like other fruit acids, it is also used to smooth wrinkles, lighten the complexion, fade pigments and irregularities of the skin. It is not allowed in organic.
