Namely
This aluminium salt is produced by reacting octenylsuccinic anhydride with starch. It is used in cosmetics as an anti-caking agent, a viscosity enhancer (flow resistance) and an absorbent. It is found in products such as lotions and make-up powders. For example, it can prevent foundation from settling on the skin or reduce the oily shine associated with certain lotions. In dry shampoos, it supports the action of a starch, usually rice starch.
Although aluminium is considered to be neurotoxic, no study has demonstrated the toxicity of this salt in cosmetics. Note that it is not used in antiperspirants.
